Meal Entertainment Benefit

What is the Meal Entertainment Benefit?

The Meal Entertainment Benefit allows you to set aside money from each pay to put exclusively towards dining out. This money is salary packaged before income tax, so it effectively grants you tax free dining! Best of all, this benefit is available in addition to the $16,050 Salary Packaging threshold for PBI Health and Charity employees.

How does it work?

Each pay day we’ll automatically transfer your nominated amount onto your SPG MasterCard Meal Entertainment Card. This money is yours to spend on food and drinks provided with your meal at any restaurant, café, hotel, take away outlet with a dine in facility or provided by a caterer (such as wedding receptions/parties) that accepts Visa, anywhere in the world.

Alternatively retain your receipts when Dining out and have SPG reimburse you from your salary before tax, into your nominated account.

What are the guidelines?

This benefit is for your personal use. Dine out and pay for family and friend’s tax free. Being defined as an exempt benefit you can accumulate monies or claim reimbursements beyond the end of the Fringe Benefit year.

To comply with Fringe Benefits Tax legislation, your card cannot be used solely for purchasing drinks, granting tips or paying for theme park, cinema or entertainment venue admission, nor for taking out cash advances or making BPay payments.

The Benefit is available for participating employees working with PBI and rebatable organizations.

How do I know how much money is available on my card?
